Refunds and Repayments
See Tuition and Fee Information for withdrawal and drop refund information.
If you officially withdraw, cease attendance, or are administratively withdrawn from UNT, any refund of tuition, fees, and other university charges will be assessed for return to programs from which you (or your parents, if they received a Federal Parent Loan) were originally paid. An additional "repayment" calculation will be performed to determine if you must repay a portion of the assistance paid directly to your for living expenses. Student Financial Aid and Scholarships personnel will apply the federally-mandated formula for the return of financial aid funds. Funds will be returned to the programs from which the money was paid to you in the following order:
- Federal Stafford Loan Program
- Federal Perkins Loan Program
- Federal Parent Loan Program (PLUS)
- Federal Pell Grant Program
- Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant
- Federal National SMART Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program
- Other Title IV Programs
- Other Federal, State, Private, or Institutional Student Aid
In addition, it is possible that you will owe a repayment of unearned financial aid funds if you cease enrollment prior to the 60% completion point
of the summer term and if you received financial aid funds. The completion point is based on the total number of class days in an enrollment period.
Students who receive financial aid and fail to
officially withdraw according to university requirements, or cease class
attendance will receive failing grades due to non-attendance.
Failing grades (or W, WF’s) in all enrolled classes will affect future
aid eligibility and payments unless class attendance can be confirmed in
each enrolled class during any given term or summer session(s).
To receive a refund for a parking permit, you will need to return the parking permit to the Parking Office in the Sullivant Public Safety Center.
