Registration/Academic Calendar, Summer 2008

     Summer 2008 consists of six sessions included within one term.  Summer sessions are grouped around three common beginning dates that fall within three common registration periods and payment deadline and grade reporting periods.
     Sessions listed according to the three common beginning dates:

PERIOD 1, EARLY REGISTRATION
March 31 - April 28, 2008 for 3W1, 8W1, SUM, 5W1 and 10W
March 31 - June 16, 2008 for 5W2

     Early Registration, Period 1. For continuing students (enrolled Summer 2007, Fall 2007 or Spring 2008).
     Students should contact the department of their major for specific information related to advising and registration. See Period 1, Early Registration instructions on page 16. Registration will continue until midnight April 28 for 3W1, 8W1, SUM, 5W1 AND 10W. Registration will continue until midnight June 16 for 5W2.

May 1, Thursday
      Last day for all graduate students new to UNT and all former graduate students (those who have not been enrolled at least once during the 12 months prior to summer and/or who have received a degree from UNT since their last enrollment) to submit graduate admission application for summer 3W1, 8W1 and SUM session regular registration.
     All graduate applicants should refer to college/departmental information in the Graduate Catalog for addition admission deadlines.
     Last day for graduate students to request change of major in the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies prior to 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM session registration.
     No  applications for graduate admission for 3W1, 8W1 and SUM sessions will be accepted after May 9.

April 29, Tuesday
     Payment deadline 5 p.m. for Period 1, Early Registration for 3W1, 8W1, SUM, 5W1 and 10W sessions.
     Account balances for Summer 2008 will be available once you complete registration. Go to EIS Student Center at my.unt.edu to view your bill.

PERIOD 2, ORIENTATION AND REGISTRATION for 3W1, 8W1, SUM, 5W1, 10W and/or 5W2 sessions

ay 2, Friday
     Orientation begins at 9 a.m. and is mandatory for all new undergraduate students. Students must pre-register for orientation. For specific dates and information, see www.unt.edu/orientation or call (940) 369-8397 or (940) 565-4198.
NOTE:  New graduate students (anyone who has at least a bachelor's degree) need not attend this orientation or go through new student registration.
     Payment deadline for 3W1, 8W1 and SUM session is 5 p.m., May 9.
     Payment deadline for 5W1 and 10W session is 5 p.m., May 30.
     Payment deadline for 5W2 session is 5 p.m., July 2.

PERIOD 3, SCHEDULE REVISION for 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM sessions
May 7-9, Wednesday - Friday
     Students who registered and paid fees by April 29 may revise their schedules for 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM sessions.
     Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from Schedule Revision is 5 p.m., May 9.

PERIOD 4, REGULAR REGISTRATION for 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM sessions
May 8-9, Thursday-Friday
     For continuing, former and new students. All new undergraduate students must attend orientation before they may schedule any classes.
     Payment deadline for Period 4, Regular Registration is 5 p.m., May 9.  Fee payment must be completed by the payment deadline or the registration request will be canceled.
 

May 9, Friday - Application Deadline
     Last day for all undergraduate students new to UNT to submit undergraduate admission application for 3W1, 8W1 and SUM session regular registration.
     No applications for undergraduate admission for 3W1, 8W1 and SUM sessions will be accepted after this date.
     

May 10, Saturday
     Residence halls open. Check with housing for opening times.

PERIOD 5, LATE REGISTRATION for 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM sessions
May 10-12, Saturday - Monday
     For students who have not registered. Late fee required.
     NOTE: On Saturday, May 10, registration will be available, however, academic and administrative office will not be open.
     Payment deadline for Period 5, Late Registration is 5 p.m., May 12.  Fee payment must be completed by the payment deadline or the registration request will be canceled.

PERIOD 6, ADD/DROP for 3W1, 8W1 and/or SUM sessions
May 12, Monday
    
For students who have registered and completed fee payment. Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from Add/Drop is 5 p.m., May 13.

     Last day to receive a 50 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the 3W1 session (dropping all 3W1 classes).

     Beginning this date, a student who wishes to drop a course for 3W1 must first receive written consent of the instructor. An automatic grade of W is assigned.
     Last day for any partial refund for 3W1 tuition upon withdrawal.

May 15, Thursday
     Last day for a change in pass/no pass for 3W1 session course.
     Last day to drop a course or withdraw from the 3W1 session with grade of W for courses that a student is not passing.  After this date a grade of WF for 3W1 may be recorded.

May 16, Friday
     Beginning this date, instructor may drop students with grade of WF for nonattendance for 3W1 session.

May 19, Monday
     3W1 midsemester.

May 22, Thursday
     Last day to drop a course with consent of the instructor for 3W1.
     Last day for an instructor to drop a student with a grade of WF for non-attendance for 3W1 session.
     Last day to withdraw from 3W1 session. Process must be completed by 5 p.m. in the Registrar's Office.

May 23, Friday
     Beginning this date a student who qualifies may request a grade of I for 3W1 session.
     Last day to file graduate degree application for August graduation without a late fee.

     Last day for master's and doctoral degree applicants for graduation to return the final corrected copy of previously filed thesis or dissertation based on changes required by the graduate reader after the initial submission of the defended paper.
     Applicants who have filed for graduation but did not meet the current semester filing deadline may submit thesis or dissertation by this date to graduate in the subsequent semester.  No further enrollment will be required.

August 8, Friday
Master's Commencement and Doctoral Hooding and Commencement.

August 9, Saturday
     Summer Commencement (Hour to be announced).

August 1, Friday
     Last day for master's and doctoral degree applicants for graduation to return the final corrected copy of previously filed thesis or dissertation based on changes required by the graduate reader after the initial submission of the defended paper.
     Applicants who have filed for graduation but did not meet the current semester filing deadline may submit thesis or dissertation by this date to graduate in the subsequent semester.  No further enrollment will be required.

August 8, Friday
     Finals for 10W session.
     10W session ends.
     Residence halls close.
     Master's Commencement and Doctoral Hooding and Commencement.

August 9, Saturday
     Summer Commencement (Hour to be announced).

 

Sessions Beginning July 7, 2008 - 5W2 session

June 15, Sunday – Graduate Application Deadline
     Last day for all graduate students new to UNT and all former graduate students (those who have not been enrolled at least once during the 12 months prior to summer and/or who have received a degree from UNT since their last enrollment) to submit graduate admission application for summer 5W2 session.
     All graduate applicants should refer to college/departmental information in the Graduate Catalog for additional admission deadlines.
     No application for graduate admission for 5W2 session will be accepted after July 2.
     Last day for graduate students to request change of major in the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies prior to 5W2 session registration.

June 30, Monday – Undergraduate Application Deadline
     Last day for all undergraduate students new to UNT to submit undergraduate admission application for summer 5W2 session.
     No applications for undergraduate admission for summer 5W2 session will be accepted after July 3.
     NOTE:
Students who receive a degree must apply to the graduate school before they may continue enrollment.

PERIOD 12, SCHEDULE REVISION for 5W2 Session
June 26 – July 2
     Students who registered and paid fees by June 17 may revise their schedules for the 5W2 session.
     Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from schedule revision is 6 p.m. July 2.

PERIOD 13 ORIENTATION AND REGISTRATION for 5W2 Session
June 27, Friday
     Orientation begins at 9 a.m. and is mandatory for all new undergraduate students. Students must pre-register for orientation. For specific dates and information, see www.unt.edu/orientation or call (940) 369-8397 or (940) 565-4198.
     NOTE:
New graduate students (anyone who has at least a bachelor’s degree) need not attend this orientation or go through new student registration.
     Payment deadline for Period 13, 5W2 session is  6 p.m., July 2.

PERIOD 14, REGULAR REGISTRATION for 5W2 Session
July 1 - 2, Tuesday - Wednesday
     For continuing students and new and former graduate students. All new undergraduate students must attend orientation before they may schedule any classes.
    Payment deadline for Period 14, Registration is  6 p.m. July 2. Fee payment must be completed by the payment deadline or the registration request will be canceled.

 PERIOD 15, LATE REGISTRATION for 5W2 Session

July 3 – 7, Thursday - Monday
     For students who have not registered. Late fee required.
     NOTE:
Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5, registration will be available, however, academic and administrative offices will not be open.
    
    
July 4, Wednesday
     UNT closed in observance of Independence Day.
     Payment deadline for Period 15, Late Registration is 5 p.m. July 7. Fee payment must be completed by the payment deadline or the registration request will be canceled.

PERIOD 16, ADD/DROP for 5W2 Session
July 7, Monday
     For students who have registered and completed fee payment. Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from add/drop is 5 p.m., July 8.

May 23, Friday
    Last day to file graduate degree application for August graduation without a late fee.

June 2, Monday
     Last day to file undergraduate degree application for August graduation without a late fee. After this date a late fee will be required.

June 6, Friday
     Last day to file graduate degree application for August graduation with late fee. No applications will be accepted after this date.

June 17, Tuesday
     Payment deadline 5 p.m. for early registration for 5W2.

June 23, Monday
     Last day for master’s and doctoral degree applicants for August graduation to file original defended copy of thesis or dissertation in graduate deans office and deliver DMA tapes.

July 1, Tuesday
     Last day to file undergraduate degree application for August graduation with late fee. No applications will be accepted after this date.

July 4, Friday
     UNT closed in observance of Independence Day.

July 5, Saturday
     Last day to withdraw from 5W2 and receive 100 percent refund.
     Residence halls open. Check with housing for opening times.

July 7, Monday
     Classes begin.
     Last day to receive an 80 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the 5W2 session (dropping all 5W2 classes).
     Last day to add a class or change schedule.
     Housing payment due.
     Last day for departments to report to the graduate dean’s office the results of final comprehensive examinations for graduating master’s students and remove grades of I in all required courses for graduate degree for August graduation.

July 8, Tuesday
    
Last day to receive a 50 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the 5W2 session (dropping all 5W2 classes).
     Last day for any partial refund for 5W2 tuition upon withdrawal.
     Payment deadline 5 p.m. for additional tuition and fees resulting from Add/Drop for 5W2.

July 10, Thursday
     5W2 census date.
     Last day to drop a 5W2 course and receive refund. Subsequent drops require instructor’s written consent.
     NOTE:
If ALL courses for 5W2 are dropped, see withdrawal refund schedule online at essc.unt.edu/saucs.

July 11, Friday
     Beginning this date, a student who wishes to drop a course for 5W2 must first receive written consent of the instructor. An automatic grade of W is assigned.

July 17, Thursday
     Last day for a change in pass/no pass for 5W2 session course.
     Last day to drop a course or withdraw from the 5W2 session with grade of W for courses that a student is not passing. After this date a grade of WF for 5W2 may be recorded.

July 18, Friday
     Beginning this date, instructor may drop students with grade of WF for nonattendance for 5W2 session.

July 22, Tuesday
     5W2 midsemester.

July 30, Wednesday
     Last day to drop a course with consent of the instructor for 5W2.
     Last day for an instructor to drop a student with a grade of WF for non-attendance for 5W2 session.
