Registration Checklist/Tips

Plan Before You Register -- a Checklist to Help Organize Your Registration

_____ 1.

Registration
All registration is via the web using My UNT at my.unt.edu.

_____ 2.

Course permission numbers
Check department and college rules about course prerequisites, permission numbers, and any other requirements. If you don't meet the requirements, you could be dropped from a course without a refund.

_____ 3.

Advising
Check with your department about advising requirements for students in good standing. Students on academic probation must be advised and issued an advising clearance code before being allowed to register. If you register early and are academically ineligible, you will be withdrawn from the semester and notified by grade report. Acceptance of payment does not guarantee enrollment.

_____ 4.

Classification
Check your rank (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate). You are classified by the number of hours completed and recorded as of the last semester attended. Transfer work should be submitted to the Registrar's Office at least one week prior to registration to be included in classification hours for registration.

_____ 5. Plan your schedule
For a comprehensive guide to planning your schedule, see My Help for Students, which has a section on preparing to register. You can use the schedule worksheet in the Schedule of Classes.
_____ 6. Corequisites
Be sure to enter all class associations/corequisites (one or more additional sections in which you must enroll -- labs, etc.) in one session.

_____ 7. Overload
You must contact your Academic Dean's Office at least 24 hours prior to registering for permission in spring or fall to elect more than 19 hours as an undergraduate; graduate students must contact the Graduate Dean for more than 16 hours as a graduate. In a summer term to elect more than 7 hours, see your Academic Dean's Office.
