Period 1, Early Registration
March 31 - July 28

Detailed instructions

Description

For continuing students (enrolled Fall 2007, Spring or Summer 2008).

Students should contact the department of their major for specific information related to advising and registration. Registration will continue until midnight, July 28.

Payment deadline

The payment deadline for Period 1, Early Registration is 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 29.

Payment arrangements must be completed by the deadline, or your registration request will be canceled. Account balances for Fall 2008 will be available at my.unt.edu.  Once you complete registration, go to EIS Student Center to view your bill.

June 16, Monday

Last day for all undergraduate students new to UNT to submit undergraduate admission applications for regular registration. Any undergraduate applications received after this deadline must be accompanied by all official transcripts and test scores. The student must meet the stated admission requirements, will register during late registration and pay a late registration fee.
Individual exceptions to the stated undergraduate admission requirements cannot be considered after this date.

No applications for undergraduate admission for the Fall 2008 semester will be accepted after August 18.

NOTE: Students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher must apply to the Toulouse School of Graduate studies before they may continue enrollment.

July 15, Tuesday
Last day for all graduate students new to UNT and all former graduate students (those who have not been enrolled at least once during the 12 months prior to spring and/or who have received a degree from UNT since their last enrollment) to submit graduate admission applications for fall semester regular registration. Graduate applications received after this deadline must be accompanied by all official transcripts.

Graduate students who submit applications after this date, if accepted, will register during late registration and pay a late registration fee. All graduate applicants to the Department of Biological Sciences; Department of English; Department of Psychology; Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences; College of Business Administration; Department of Counseling, Development and Higher Education; Department of Technology and Cognition; Department of Computer Science and Engineering; School of Library and Information Sciences and the School of Visual Arts and Design should refer to college/departmental information in the Graduate Catalog for additional admission deadlines.

No applications for graduate admission for the Fall 2008 semester will be accepted after August 15.

Last day for graduate students to request change of major in the Toulouse School of Graduate studies prior to Fall registration.
July 29, Tuesday

Payment deadline for Period 1, Early Registration. Payment arrangements must be completed by 5 p.m., or your registration request will be canceled.

Period 2, Schedule Revision
August 11 - August 21

Description

Period 2 is for all students who registered and completed payment arrangements by July 29, 2008. These students may revise their schedules for Fall 2008 during Period 2, Schedule Revision.

Period 3, Orientation Registration
August 20, Wednesday

Description

This period is only for new undergraduate students who applied for admission by June 13 and attended orientation.

Orientation begins at 9:00 a.m. and is mandatory for all new undergraduate students. Students must pre-register for orientation. For specific dates and information, see www.unt.edu/orientation or call (940) 369-8397 or (940) 565-4198.

NOTE: New graduate students (anyone who has at least a bachelor’s degree) need not attend orientation or go through new student registration.

The payment deadline for Period 3 is due by 6 p.m. on the same day that you register.

Period 4, Regular Registration

Description

For continuing students, any undergraduate students who missed new and transfer registration, and for new and former graduate students. All new undergraduates must attend orientation before they may schedule any classes.

Payment deadline

Payment is due the same day you register. If you fail to pay fees, your classes will be dropped. You will have to re-register during Period 5, Late Registration.

August 21, Thursday

 

4-6 p.m. - New Graduate Student Orientation (new graduate students in all degree programs and non-degree seeking students) Lyceum, University Union (see map).

8 a.m. - 4 p.m. New TA/TF orientation, Lyceum, University Union. All new TA/TFs must attend.

Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from Schedule Revision due by 6 p.m.

August 22, Friday

 

 

3 p.m. - New student convocation, UNT Coliseum.

Period 5, Late Registration

Description

For students who have not registered.

$25 late fee required.

Check and credit card payments are made online at  my.unt.edu. Cash payments are made at the Student Accounting and Cashiering Services cashier windows in the Eagle Student Services Center. See map
Payment deadline

Payment is due the same day that you register.

Payment deadline for Period 5, Late Registration is 6 p.m. Friday and 6:00 p.m. Monday - Wednesday. Fee payment must be completed by the payment deadline or the registration request will be canceled.

Note: Offices in the Eagle Student Services Center are closed on Saturday, August 23.

Last day for 100 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

Labor Day - no classes.  Office in the Eagle Student Services Center close at 5 p.m.

Last day for 80 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all courses).

September 8, Monday

Twelfth class day.

Last day to drop a course (not withdrawing from the semester) and receive refund. Subsequent drops require instructor's written consent.

Last day for 70 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

September 9, Tuesday

Beginning this date, a student who wishes to drop a course must first receive written consent of the instructor. A grade of W is assigned.

September 15, Monday

Last day to apply for December undergraduate graduation.

Last day for 50 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

Last day to apply for December graduate graduation without paying a fee.
September 22, Monday

Last day for 25 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

Last day for any partial refund of tuition upon withdrawal.

September 26, Friday

Second installment of tuition due for Fall 2007. $10 delinquent payment fee assessed on all late payments.

September 29, Monday

Housing payment due.

October - November

Early registration for Spring 2009. Specific times and instructors are published in the Schedule of Classes, which will be available September 2008.

October 2, Thursday

Foreign Language Proficiency Examination administered to graduate students. Applicants must make arrangements in the foreign language department office at least one month prior to scheduled exam.
October 3, Friday

Last day for a change in pass/no pass status.

Last day to drop a course or withdraw from the semester with a grade of W for courses that the student is not passing. After this date, a grade of WF may be recorded.

October 6, Monday
Beginning this date, instructors may drop students with grade of WF for nonattendance.

October 10, Friday

Last day to file graduate degree application with late fee. No application will be accepted after this date.
October 14, Tuesday
Midsemester.

October 24, Friday

Last day for master's and doctoral degree applicants for December graduation to

  • File defended printout and .pdf disk of thesis, problems in lieu of thesis, or dissertation in the graduate dean's office
  • Deliver DMA CDs
  • Remove grades of I in all courses required for degree (exceptions: thesis and dissertation).

Last day for departments to report to the graduate dean's office the results of final comprehensive examination for graduating master's students and remove grades of I in all required courses for graduate degree.

Last day for master's and doctoral candidates to complete foreign language requirement for degree.

October 28, Tuesday
Last day for a student to drop a course with the consent of the instructor.
 
October 30, Thursday
Housing payment due.

October 31, Friday

Final installment of tuition due for Fall 2008. $10 delinquent payment fee assessed on all late payments.
November 10, Monday

Beginning this date, a student who qualifies may request a grade if I.

November 19, Wednesday

Last day for an instructor to drop a student with a grade of WF for non-attendance.

Last day to withdraw from the semester. Process must be completed by 5:00 p.m. in the Registrar's Office.

Last day for master's and doctoral degree applicants for graduation to return final version of previously filed thesis, problems in lieu of thesis, or dissertation in graduate dean's office. Last day to apply for graduation for a subsequent semester if filing defended printout and disk of thesis or dissertation this term.
