UNT strictly enforces through disciplinary action its policy against use of illicit drugs and abuse of alcohol. In compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 the University of North Texas endeavors to provide an environment for students that is free from illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol. Accordingly, the university provides a program designed to prevent the illegal possession, use or distribution of alcohol and illegal drugs by any member of the university community. The program includes distributing a comprehensive pamphlet, "Information About Illegal Drugs and Alcohol Abuse" annually to each student.
