Period 1, Early Registration
October 24 - November 28

Detailed instructions

Description

For continuing students only (enrolled Spring, Summer and/or Fall 2005).

Students should contact the department of their major for specific information related to advising and registration. Registration must be completed by Saturday, November 28.

Payment deadline

The payment deadline for Period 1, Early Registration is 5 p.m., November 29, 2005.

Payment arrangements must be completed by the deadline, or your registration request will be canceled. Account balances for Spring 2006 will be available at my.unt.edu once you complete registration. Go to My Account Summary to view your bill.

November 15, Tuesday

Last day for all graduate students new to UNT and all former graduate students (those who have not been enrolled at least once during the 12 months prior to spring and/or who have received a degree from UNT since their last enrollment) to submit graduate admission applications for spring semester regular registration. Graduate applications received after this deadline must be accompanied by all official transcripts.

All graduate applicants should refer to college/departmental information in the Graduate Catalog for additional admission deadlines. Graduate students who submit applications after this date, if accepted, will be subject to late registration and a late registration fee.

No applications for graduate admission for the Spring 2006 semester will be accepted after January 2.

Last day for graduate students to request change of major in the Toulouse School of Graduate studies prior to spring registration.

 
November 29, Tuesday

Payment deadline for Period 1, Early Registration. Payment arrangements must be completed by 5 p.m., or your registration request will be canceled.

To pay your bill, go to my.unt.edu.

December 1, Thursday

Last day for all undergraduate students new to UNT to submit undergraduate admission applications for spring semester regular registration. Any undergraduate applications received after this deadline must be accompanied by all official transcripts and test scores. The student must meet the stated admission requirements and will register during late registration and pay a late registration fee.

Individual exceptions to the stated undergraduate admissions requirements cannot be considered after this date.

No applications for undergraduate admission for the Spring 2006 semester will be accepted after January 9.

NOTE: Students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher must apply to the Graduate School before they may continue enrollment.

Period 2, Schedule Revision
January 3 - January 13

Description

Period 2 is for all students who registered and completed payment arrangements by November 29, 2005. These students may revise their schedules for Spring 2006 during Period 2, Schedule Revision.

Period 3, Orientation Registration
January 10 - 11, Tuesday - Wednesday

Detailed instructions

Description

This period is only for new undergraduate students who applied for admission by December 1 and attended orientation.

Orientation begins at 9:00 a.m. on January 10 and is mandatory for all new undergraduate students. Students must pre-register for orientation. For specific dates and information, see www.unt.edu/orientation or call (940) 369-8397 or (940) 565-4198.

Note: New graduate students (anyone who has at least a Bachelor's degree) do not have to attend orientation or go through new student registration.

Payment deadline

The payment deadline for Period 3 is due by 6 p.m. on the same day that you register.

Period 4, Regular Registration
6 p.m., January 9 - 5:30 p.m., January 13, 2006 

Detailed instructions

Description

For continuing students, any undergraduate students who missed new and transfer registration, and for new and former graduate students. All new undergraduates must attend orientation before they can register for classes.

Payment deadline

Payment is due the same day you register. If you fail to pay fees, your classes will be dropped. You will have to re-register during Period 5, Late Registration.

Residence halls open. Check with Housing for opening times.
January 12, Thursday
4:00 - 6:00 p.m. -- Orientation for new graduate students in all degree programs and non-degree students, Lyceum, University Union (see map).
January 13, Friday
Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from schedule revision due by 6 p.m.

Period 5, Late Registration
January 14, 16-18, Saturday, Monday - Wednesday

Description

For students who have not registered during Periods 1-4.

A $25 late fee is charged.

Payment deadline

Payment deadline for Period 5 is 3 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. Monday - Wednesday. You must pay your bill by the payment deadline or your classes will be dropped.

To pay by check or credit card, you can go online to my.unt.edu. To pay with cash, go to the Student Accounting and Cashiering Services cashier windows in the Eagle Student Services Center. See map

Note: Offices in the Eagle Student Services Center are open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14.

January 14, Saturday

Last day for 100 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

January 16, Monday

UNT is closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, however, online registration will be available.
January 17, Tuesday
Registration begins at 7 a.m.
January 18, Wednesday
Last day to register for Spring 2006. Late registration ends at 5:30 p.m.

Period 6, Add/Drop
January 16 - 20, Monday - Friday

Description

For students who have registered and completed fee payment. At this time, registered students may change their schedules.

January 20, Friday
Last day to add a class or change student schedule other than a drop. Add/Drop ends at 3 p.m. 

Payment deadline for additional tuition and fees resulting from add/drop due by 5:00 p.m.

January 23, Monday

Last day for 80 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all courses).

January 30, Monday

Twelfth class day.

Last day to drop a course (not withdrawing from the semester) and receive refund. Subsequent drops require instructor's written consent.

Last day for 70 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

January 31, Tuesday

Beginning this date, a student who wishes to drop a course must first receive written consent of the instructor. A grade of W is assigned.

February 1, Wednesday

Housing payment is due.

February 6, Monday

Last day to apply for May undergraduate graduation.

Last day for 50 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

February 13, Monday

Last day for 25 percent refund of tuition only if withdrawing from the semester (dropping all classes).

Last day for any partial refund of tuition upon withdrawal.

February 17, Friday

Second installment of tuition due for Spring 2006. $10 delinquent payment fee assessed on all late payments.

Last day to apply for May graduate graduation without paying a late fee.

February 24, Friday

Foreign Language Proficiency Examination administered to graduate students. Applicants must make arrangements in the foreign language department office at least one month prior to scheduled exam.

Last day for a change in pass/no pass status.

Last day to drop a course or withdraw from the semester with a grade of W for courses that the student is not passing. After this date, a grade of WF may be recorded.

February 27, Monday
Beginning this date, instructors may drop students with grade of WF for nonattendance.
March 1, Wednesday
Housing payment due.
March 8, Wednesday
Midsemester.
March 10, Friday
Last day to file graduate degree application with late fee. No application will be accepted after this date. Must be in good standing to file for graduation.
March 13 - 19
Monday - Sunday
Spring vacation -- University closed.
March 24, Friday
Final installment of tuition due for Spring 2005. $10 delinquent payment fee assessed on all late payments.
March 28, Tuesday
Last day for a student to drop a course with the consent of the instructor.
March 31, Friday

Last day for master's and doctoral degree applicants for graduation to file original defended copy of thesis or dissertation in graduate dean's office and deliver DMA tapes.

Last day for departments to report to the graduate dean's office the results of final comprehensive examination for graduating master's students and remove grades of I in all required courses for graduate degree.

Last day for master's and doctoral candidates to complete foreign language requirement for degree.

April

Early registration for Summer and Fall 2006. Specific times and instructions are published in the Schedule of Classes, which will be available in February 2006.

Honors Day.

Beginning this date, a student who qualifies may request a grade if I.

April 14 -15, Friday - Saturday
Easter - Classes between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. meet on Friday. Classes after 5 p.m. Friday and all Saturday classes are dismissed.
April 21, Friday

Last day for an instructor to drop a student with a grade of WF for non-attendance.

Last day to withdraw from the semester. Process must be completed by 5:00 p.m. in the Registrar's Office.

University Day (North Texas Day)

April 29 - May 5
Saturday - Friday
Pre-final week. No student activities may be scheduled.
May 5, Friday
Last day for master’s and doctoral degree applicants for graduation
to return the final copy of previously submitted thesis or dissertation based on the changes required by the graduate reader after the initial submission of the defended paper. Last day to apply for graduation for subsequent semester if filing defended copy of thesis or dissertation this term.
May 6 - 12

Finals week.
May 12, Friday

Term ends.

Last day for graduation applicants completing all requirements for master’s degree with thesis or doctoral degree to file defended copy of thesis or dissertation in graduate dean’s office to avoid registration requirement for subsequent semester. Student must have applied for graduation prior to filing defended copy and must be
enrolled in thesis or dissertation hours this term.
