Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (FPLUS)

Procedures, Forms

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application. Instructions and other loan materials provided after award is offered. Loan Application requests are processed after aid eligibility for all other programs has been determined.

UNT Priority Dates

Priority dates are June 1/October 1/April 1.

Selection Criteria

Available to parents of dependent students. Requires at least half-time enrollment of dependent student.

Continued Eligibility

Students must maintain at least half-time enrollment and continue to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements.

Amount of Awards

Maximum award not to exceed the annual Cost of Attendance minus other financial aid.

Payment

Money is forwarded to the institution and issued to parents once each semester.

Repayment

Loan funds must be repaid with interest. Repayment of principal, subject to deferment provisions of the Federal Stafford Loan, begins within 60 days. Rates of interest are variable for loan periods beginning on or after July 1, 1987 though June 30, 2006. Rates of interest are fixed for loan periods beginning on or after July 1, 2006.
