Student Borrowers
The University of North Texas and Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG) have teamed up to provide you a Web-based way of applying for a Federal Stafford Loan called TG Loans By Web. The following will guide you step-by-step through completing and submitting an application.
Overview of the process for student loans:
- You will not receive a loan until you have completed an application through Loans By Web. If you have difficulty with this process, contact TG at (800) 845-6267.
- First time UNT borrowers may need to complete the online entrance counseling.
- If necessary, download the free Adobe Acrobat software needed to print your master promissory note (MPN) and Borrower's Rights and Responsibilities.
- Be prepared to provide two references including address and phone number information.
- When selecting a lender, you may have the option to electronically sign an MPN. Some lenders allow you to use your Department of Education personal identification number or PIN. If you do not know your PIN, you may obtain it at www.pin.ed.gov.
- Do not send signed MPNs to your school. Your school will be notified electronically.
