Common error messages

Choose the type of errors you would like to see:

 

General

 "You are not authorized to access this component."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

The part of MyUNT you tried to see is not working correctly or is currently turned off.

 

Solution

Contact the portal administrator if the problem persists over several days or if you know that others are able to see that part of the portal.

"Your changes have not been submitted."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

 You tried to switch screens without saving your information. For example, you could have looked up a class you wanted to add but did not click Submit.

 

Solution:

To save your changes before you switch screens,

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Submit or save your changes.

To continue without saving, click OK.

Cause

You typed an incorrect class number, term, year, subject area, catalog number, etc.

 

Solution:

  1. Click OK to clear the message.

  2. Re-type the value, or use the Lookup icon to search for the correct value.

Adding a class

"To invoke Class Search, clear the Class Nbr field before clicking the lookup button."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You clicked the Lookup icon beside a box that already had a class number.

 

Solution

  1. Click OK.

  2. Click the Lookup button beside an empty Class Nbr box.

"Time Scheduling Conflict for class 1047 and 1009, not enrolled."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a class at the same time you have another class.

 

Solution

  1. Note the class number(s) in the error message.

  2. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  3. Either add a different section of the class or drop the conflicting class already on your schedule.

"A Required Related Class (component LAB) must also be Selected."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a class that has a related component. Note that some classes come with TWO related components: a lab and a recitation.

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Add as many co-requisites as necessary before you click Submit.

"Enrollment is not allowed for this class: It is outside the Career of Study."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a graduate class even though you are an undergraduate.

 

Solution

Contact your academic advisor or the graduate department to see if they can put you in the class.

"Department Consent Required to Enroll in Class, Add Not Processed."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a class that requires a permission number.

 

Solution

If you know the permission number,

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Click the link of the class that requires the permission number.

  3. Type a permission number.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click Submit to add the class.

If you don't know the permission number, contact your academic advisor or the department.

Cause

You tried to add a class with a permission number but typed the wrong permission number.

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Click the class link to the right of the the Lookup button..

  3. Type a new permission number.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click Submit to re-ad the class.

"Multiple Enrollment not allowed for course, add not processed."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a class that is already on your schedule.

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Click Delete in the far right column to remove the class.

  3. Click the View My Schedule link to see the classes on your schedule.

"Course previously taken and may be subject to institutional repeat policy."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add a class you have already taken.

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Click Delete in the far right column to remove the class from your schedule.

"Maximum term Unit Load exceeded."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to add more than the maximum number of hours for undergraduates (19) or graduates (12).

 

Solution

If you have extra classes in your schedule that you don't want,

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Click the Drop \ Update Classes link at the bottom of the page.

  3. Choose "Drop" beside every class you want to drop.

  4. Click Submit.

If you would like to request an overload for the term, contact your academic advisor.

Dropping a class

"An enrollment request that has been processed successfully cannot be deleted."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You clicked the Delete button in the far right column to try and remove a class even though you already successfully added the class.

 

Solution

To drop the class,

  1. Click the Drop \ Update Classes link at the bottom of the page.

  2. Choose "Drop" from the drop-down list next to the class.

  3. Click Submit.

"Class cannot be dropped."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to drop your last class.

Your tried to drop a class after you just dropped another class. (In other words, you still have more than one class left in your schedule).

 

Solution

If you were trying to drop your last class,

  1. Click OK.

  2. Try swapping for another class instead if you do not want to drop your last class.

If you need to drop all your classes, go to the Registrar's Office in the ESSC to withdraw from the term.

 

If you are NOT trying to drop your last class (i.e., you still have other classes in your schedule),

  1. Click the Add Classes link at the bottom of the page. (This step is just so that you change screens.)

  2. Click the Drop \ Update Classes link again.

  3. Try dropping the class again.

Updating a class

"Invalid Access to Update Units."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to update the amount of units your class is worth (for classes with variable hours only).

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Choose "Drop" from the drop-down list next to the class.

  3. Add the class again, this time with the correct number of hours.

"This class has no updateable attributes."  View image  | More info

 

Cause

You tried to update a class that you cannot update. Only classes with variable hours can be updated.

 

Solution

  1. Click OK to clear the message.

  2. Choose "-Select enrollment action-" from the drop-down list to clear the error.

Swapping a class

"Already enrolled in the 'To' Class of the Swap Transaction, Swap not processed."  View image  |  More info

 

Cause

You tried to swap two identical classes.

 

Solution

  1. Click Cancel to clear the message.

  2. Highlight and delete the class number in the Class Nbr box.

  3. Click the Lookup icon again to swap for another class.
