Transfer Student Scholarships

Recently, the university:

  • created Honors Transfer Scholarships
  • increased awarded amounts for the existing UNT Texas Transfer Scholarships
  • created Texas Transfer Scholarships for students admitted from four-year institutions

Criteria for the Texas Transfer Scholarships will change when transferring from a Texas community college or an accredited Texas university beginning Fall 2007.

These scholarships will require a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Honors Transfer Scholarships

The new Honors Transfer Scholarships are available for students accepted to the Honors College with 15 or more credit hours who will enter UNT in Fall 2007. A completed General Academic Scholarship Application is required to apply for these awards. Initial scholarship award amounts are determined using your cumulative grade point average.

  • 4.0 cumulative GPA - $4,000
  • 3.99-3.75 cumulative GPA - $3,000
  • 3.74-3.5 cumulative GPA - $2,000

Honors Transfer Scholarship recipients must complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours per year, including 6 hours of honors classes. Honors Transfer Scholarships are renewed according to the eligibility criteria for awards.

Transfer students who have earned 15 or more college credit hours with a 3.25 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply to the Honors College. For more information, visit www.unt.edu/honors or call (940) 565-3305.

UNT Texas Transfer Scholarships

The UNT Texas Transfer Scholarships are available for students transferring from a Texas community college or an accredited Texas university with 45 or more credit hours. Scholarship amounts are based on your cumulative grade point average.

  • 4.0 cumulative GPA - $3,000
  • 3.99-3.75 cumulative GPA - $2,000
  • 3.74-3.5 cumulative GPA - $1,500

If you are entering in the fall, a completed General Academic Scholarship Application is not required to be considered for these scholarships. Once you are admitted to UNT, you will be evaluated for the awards based on your admission application. Scholarship funds are limited so apply for admission early.

If you are entering in the spring, you should use the General Academic Scholarship Application, which is available from mid-September through February for the upcoming year's awards. More information about scholarships is available at essc.unt.edu/finaid.

Awards are renewable for a second year for students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per fall and spring semester and maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA. For more information, contact Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at (940) 565-2302 or (877) 881-1014.
