Emerald Eagle Scholars Program
Beginning Fall 2007, this new student success program allows talented undergraduate students from families with adjusted gross incomes below $40,000 to earn bachelor’s degrees without the cost of tuition and fees getting in the way.
In her 2007 inaugural address President Gretchen M. Bataille first announced the implementation of UNT's new Emerald Eagle Scholars program.
"An important measure to help ensure success in this special partnership between the Emerald Eagle Scholars and UNT is the requirement that participants must engage in the richness of university life — including campus activities, mentoring and other student support programs," Bataille says.
"In addition, because we believe a commitment to active engagement on campus is directly related to success, our Emerald Eagles will benefit by through service learning and through working on campus in university departments committed to supporting participants in the program."

Emerald Eagle Scholars Program Summer Grant Program
I. Academic Success Grants
Who - Emerald Eagle Scholars from the Class of 2011
What - Grants covering the average cost of tuition, mandatory fees and on-campus housing for up to 125 students taking 6 to 12 semester credit hours. (Grants for students taking less than 6 semester credit hours will cover tuition and mandatory fees.)
When - Summer 2008
How - To apply, Emerald Eagle Scholars interested in this grant must:
1. Complete an application for Summer Academic Success Grant no later than April 1, 2008 (available online or at Financial Aid front counters in the ESSC.)
2. Complete the UNT application for Summer 2008 financial aid no later than April 1, 2008
3. Submit an advisor-approved "Advising Record" available from the Registrar's Office which lists all courses for which the student may register in Summer 2008
4. If housing is desired, complete an application for Summer 2008 housing no later than April 10, 2008
